I have big ideas for Handbags of Hope. Unfortunatly there are some changings coming in 2010. Currently we rely on 95% donations of handbags, wallets and filler items Volunteers support us thru cooking for events , donating raffle prizes, and attending collection events. I hope everyone will stay on board once the changes are in place. Our Mission will remain the same as well as the the need for items.
Women from other States have inquired on starting a Handbags of Hope in their community, a webinar maybe ? My biggest hope is becoming large enough to pack up a truck and deliver bags to weather torn areas. ( Oklahoma twisters).
I take this all 1 day at a time. I've had incrediable community support and women just love this project ! With the economy such a disaster it's an inexpensive project costing $ 15.00 to fill a purse. I look forward to many years of Handbags and all the wonderful women I'll meet along the way !
Handbags of Hope needs 3000 filled purses a year to meet the needs of 16 shelters and programs. We now have a waiting list for handbags.
